VALLEY METABOLIC HEALTH RESOURCE CENTRE
What is therapeutic nutrition?
Therapeutic nutrition is any way of eating that is designed to improve metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, fatty liver, and PCOS. Examples include whole food plant based diets, low energy diets (including meal replacement systems), mediterranean diets, and low carbohydrate diets.
The following resources are biased toward carbohydrate restriction due to its effectiveness, the need for professionals to be aware of safety concerns around the use of medications which often need de-prescribing, as well as expressed needs from our patient population. With time we intend to develop other resources for various patterns of eating as described above.
You can click on the modules below to 1) find out more about Valley Metabolic Health 2) discover resources to learn more about LCHF and carbohydrate restriction and 3) connect with the Institute for Personalized Therapeutic Nutrition for further education, webinars, and training.
